Your GP will advise if any follow-up is needed, depending on the condition of your ears. If you’re prone to earwax build-up, they may recommend regular checks to keep your ears healthy.
The service is provided as part of a normal GP consultation, with a gap fee of approximately $110. Depending on your situation, Medicare rebates may apply. Your GP can provide more information during your visit.
Your initial consultation will be with your GP. In some cases, you may be advised to use ear drops for a few days to soften the wax before your treatment. This ensures the wax is easier to remove and makes the procedure even more comfortable.
Your GP will start by examining your ears using a magnifier to assess the wax build-up. They will then use the suction device to gently remove the wax.
